The Sexual Assault Services Formula Grant Program (SASP) is awarded to states and territories to support rape crisis centers and other nonprofit, nongovernmental organizations or tribal programs that provide direct intervention, and related assistance to victims of sexual assault and their families. The Office of the Governor receives SASP funding and contracts with the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA), as a pass-through agency, to administer the program which includes subcontracting with organizations to provide grant activities.
This grant opportunity will fund organizations to provide sexual assault victim services and improve access to culturally specific sexual assault services to adult survivors of sexual assault that were assaulted by someone other than a family or household member.

About SASP
The purpose of the Sexual Assault Services Program grant is to provide general sexual assault victim services and to improve access to culturally specific sexual assault services for primarily adult sexual assault survivors. In FY 2023 (October 1, 2022 – September 20, 2023), TAASA awarded over $800,000 to 13 sexual assault programs and culturally specific organizations to implement grant activities. This grant is a two-year grant with fiscal years that start on October 1 and end on September 30. Grant applications become available every odd year (2023, 2025, etc.) during the late spring or summer. Please check back here in late June of 2023 for the FY 2024 – 2025 grant announcement and application.

ARP-SA
TAASA is pleased to announce that we are a passthrough for the American Rescue Plan, Grants to Support Survivors of Sexual Assault (ARP-SA). The Texas Health and Human Services Commission received the federal grant for Texas and contracted with TAASA to administer the program which included subcontracting with organizations to provide grant activities. TAASA funded ARP-SA grantees will use the funds to enhance remote services, meet the emergent needs of survivors, work to mitigate the spread and impact of COVID-19, build mobile advocacy programs and partnerships (including expanding hospital and law enforcement accompaniment), and provide capacity building support for non-profit organizations to build strong sexual assault programs for adult survivors in areas of Texas that are currently underserved or not served.
TAASA began providing grants in October of 2022. Between October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2025 TAASA will award $9 million through this grant funding to stand-alone rape crisis centers, culturally specific organizations, and sexual assault programs. Organizations that are awarded these funds will receive them through either March 31 (Offering 2) or September 30 (Offering 1 and 3) 2025. To date, TAASA has completed two offerings (ARP-SA Offering 1 and Offering 2) and will soon announce Offering 3.
The ARP-SA Offering 3 grant announcement will be posted here in late June of 2023, with the grant running from October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2025. TAASA plans to award the Offering 3 funds to 2 non-profit organizations that currently provide services to survivors of sexual assault in underserved areas to assist them in meeting minimum service standards for Texas sexual assault programs and prepare them to apply for a Sexual Assault Training Program certification and state sexual assault funding.
